Things Indians believe will keep them safe from COVID-19 (but won't actually)
Due to this pandemic, I try to avoid going out in the public areas just like any one of you, and the few times that I have had to get out of my house felt like walking down the road of Pochinki, weaponless. Its horrifying!

Now I've had to go to the bank during Lockdown 1.0 and had to visit it again just a few days back. Grocery shopping during those trips to the bank are a given. And let me tell you that there was a huge difference in the way people carried themselves around these public areas on those two occasions. Like the difference between a desert and a beach or that between a village and a city.
Lockdown 1.0 was filled with fright for the deadly COVID-19 virus. Very few people were out on the road and in the markets, and lingering around was not done by a single soul. These few had masks on and were cautious with their every movement as well as that of the people around them. A good meter distance was maintained between any two bodies. Sanitizers could be seen being popped out of most of their pockets. There were only a few who were stupidly brave enough to laugh at the pandemic and gather around at their respective "Addas".
Fast forward to Lockdown 5.0 and the number of people on the streets and the roads has increased to almost the amount that was usually present before the Lockdown got implemented. Seeing the unsurprisingly continuous drop in the country's economy, what with the absence of a fixed hourly-wage and a maximum part of the population being dependent on their daily wages, the intensity of the lockdown had to be relaxed.
However, any sensible person would think that despite the relaxation, people would understand the seriousness of the widespread virus and take the necessary precautions. But any Indian could predict that that would hardly be the case because we have the awful habit of dancing with danger.
Here are the most relatable things that I have observed us Indians to believe that will keep us safe from the dangerous COVID-19 virus:
1. MASKS HAVE THE POWER TO PROTECT OUR ENTIRE BODY.
People (not all but most) believe that putting on a mask will scare the virus away from them. You try asking a masked person to give you a little space while standing in a queue and their automatic response will be, "You need to relax. Nothing will happen because we both have our masks on."
Since apparently, covering the nose and the mouth with a simple mask can give all the surfaces of your body an immunity against the virus.
2. WASHING OUR HANDS ONLY 3-4 TIMES PROTECTS US 24x7
"An infected surface got nothing on us as long as we wash our hands at intervals" is what is believed by the smart people of our society.
This belief stems from our tendency to consider our hands clean as long as the skin is not visibly dirty. We all have thought this way at one point or another. It's in our nationality.
3. GOD WILL PROTECT US ALL
India can be called a land of miracles. So many of them have occurred in the past. Science and faith are said to coexist here. However, I don't think anyone, not even the Almighty, would appreciate His faithfuls putting themselves in the path of danger intentionally while saying that He would not let any harm come to His children.
So many worshipers, from different religions, believe in organizing religious ceremonies in order to combat the virus. And again, not everyone is a part of this group but the few are sufficient to help the virus spread a little more rapidly.
At times like those, I'm sure, God must be exasperated by us asking him to work overtime.
4. POLICE ARE OUR PROTECTORS AND CAN'T ORDER US AROUND
There have been news of the crowd attacking the police trying to maintain the curfew. The reason behind such actions on part of the public is quite simple if you think about it. We don't like being put under restrictions, irrespective of the fact that some restrictions are for our own health and safety.
We love putting a number of senseless restrictions on the young as a society. But when it comes to the society being under one - nah uh!
5. WE ARE INDESTRUCTIBLE BECAUSE WE ARE THE ADULTS
The adults have this weird way of thinking that they cannot be affected by the virus because "they said so".
They make the children follow all the norms of social distancing but fail to take care of themselves. Someone really needs to tell them that being careless about their own health is not an act of selfless love for the children.
In conclusion, its pretty clear that the government is responsible for the rapid rise of the COVID-19 cases, what with its failure to take care of the public during the complete Lockdown, but we are not innocents either. Even if we have to be out among the public, we must do our best to follow the social-distancing rules, thereby, keeping ourselves and our families safe.

Exactly! Worshiping is not bad at all. But there's a difference between worshiping and putting the foot in their own mouth (as well as that of the others😂😂 )
